Where are you from and how did you come to be in Truckee?
I grew up in Gardner, Massachusetts. It’s a great family town. I was looking for a change of scenery from the East Coast and a little more excitement. I have a friend who lives in Truckee as well as an affinity for the mountains so I came for a visit and never left.
What inspired you to become an accountant?
I went to UMass, Lowell for college and took a basic Intro to Accounting course to fill a requirement. Turns out I really liked it! Eventually, I went on to get my Masters in Accounting at Fitchburg State University. Following school, I worked for a large public accounting firm in Boston. When I moved to Truckee, I needed a job and Heslin Construction was hiring. I was excited for the opportunity to work for a small owner-managed company.
What’s the favorite part of your job as Heslin Construction?
I love feeling like I’m part of the final product. I work closely with Matt, the homeowners and the Heslin Construction team members helping track each fiscal step of the home building process. At the end, there’s a completed beautiful home! Seeing and following the various facets of each home building project makes me feel especially attached and invested in the work.
When you’re not working hard, what are you up to?
I really enjoy cooking and being in the outdoors, as well as hanging out with my fiancé and my dog Miller. I also run a small health and fitness business on the side.
